Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and Easton Beach, the former mansion turned hotel is within one and one half miles of Downtown Newport and the Atlantic Ocean coast. Hotel Features. Housed in the first mansion built on the prestigious Cliff Walk in 1872, the French Victorian hotel is decorated with authentic furnishings, original artwork and traditional dÚcor. Guests are greeted by an original antique fireplace, restored parquet floors and a crystal chandelier in the lobby. The Spiced Pear restaurant offers oceanside dining at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The seasonal menu features American and French cuisine. Terrazza, serving Tuscan inspired cuisine, is open during summer months. Guestrooms. Each of the 20 guestrooms is individually decorated and modeled after different historic periods. All rooms feature four poster beds with 400 thread count Italian bed linens, gas fireplaces and furnished patios or verandas. Ocean views and flat screen Plasma televisions are available in select rooms. Bathrooms are outfitted with jetted tubs, televisions and separate showers and tubs. Designer or hand painted fixtures, gold plated sinks and Penhaligon's toiletries add extra appeal. A complimentary Continental breakfast, mineral water and newspaper delivery accompany each room.
